Originally founded in Winthrop, Maine, in April 1990, by Frank Carr and Garth Vdoviak, World Harbors, Inc, then known as C.V. Finer Foods, began with eight employees.

The company's mission was to create sauces for people who were looking for original, high-quality, easy to use flavors. Its first products were eight salad dressings and two marinades that were distributed throughout the Northeast.

Catering to the American consumer's desire for quick, easy meals with a variety of ethnic flavors, World Harbors soon introduced sauces and marinades that rapidly became popular in the home. The sauces were distinguished from other national brands in that they could be used as both cooking sauces and marinades.

In March 2000, Garth and Frank sold CV Finer Foods to Angostura International Limited, and the Maine company changed its operating name to World Harbors, Inc.

Today, World Harbors® brand offers 16 different Sauces & Marinade flavors, which are distributed nationwide and in select international markets. New flavors and products are continually being developed. World Harbors launched an all-natural sauce and marinade line called Acadia Naturals, seven very distinct flavors with absolutely no preservatives, animal byproducts or GMO.

World Harbors also markets products by Angostura, including Angostura® Soy, Teriyaki and Worcestershire Sauces, and fourteen Angostura® Drink Mixers.

In 2007, World Harbors introduced Buccaneer Blends® - seven new, very distinct BBQ and steak sauces with absolutely no artificial preservatives. Low in fat and carbohydrates, Buccaneer Blends® can be purchased both in grocery stores and supermarkets in all U.S. states.

All of World Harbors, Buccaneer Blends® and Acadia Naturals products are Kof-K Kosher certified parve. There is no added MSG or aspartame, and most flavors are fat-free.
